validation utility is written

I should have written this utility a long time ago. It is less than 200 lines of code.

First I tried it on what I thought was a good database. Oh, there is a memory leak. Or perhaps a bug in the utility.

Then I ran createBranch on a new database. That was fine.

Obviously I'm going to need to play with this. Likely there is more than one problem. :-(
